Pieta’ Hotspurs came from behind to beat Naxxar Lions 3-2 in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Joelson put Naxxar ahead on 27 minutes but Luca Gatt equalised on 33 minutes. However, a minute later, Leo Agius restored the lead for Naxxar. Jayden Vella equalised on 64 minutes and Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo converted a penalty on 72 minutes to hand the Hotspurs the three points.
Attard and Swieqi United shared the spoils in a highly entertaining 3-3 draw in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Ayrton Attard put Swieqi ahead on 10 minutes and Aiden Agius doubled the score on 34 minutes. Shaun Bugeja reduced the gap four minutes from the end of the first half and Kingsley Kenneth Ibitoye restored equilibrium on 69 minutes. Kayden Farrugia made it 3-2 for Attard one minute from time but Salam Kojo Mawuena levelled matters five minutes in added time.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a goal by Stephen Chiemezie Gabrielten minutes from time handed Sirens a narrow win over Zurrieq while in another match, Santa Lucia and Vittoriosa Stars shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
