The Malta Under-21 side suffered the eighth defeat in Group F of the UEFA Under-21 Championship, losing 0-4 to Northern Ireland at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Shea Kearney put the Irish ahead just past the half hour and two minutes from the end of the first half, Jack Patterson doubled the score. Patterson made it 3-0 on 63 minutes with Bayley McCann adding another on 73 minutes.

Malta will be in action once again on Wednesday, hosting Germany.
