Neighbours Mdina Knights and Rabat Ajax face each other on match day 1 of the BOV National League II. Msida St. Joseph, who just missed out on promotion face one of the teams relegated from the Amateur League I, Kirkop United. The other teams who were relegated, namely Xghajra Tornados, Luqa St. Andrew’s and Zejtun Corinthians will be facing Marsaskala, Siggiewi and Ghaxaq respectively. In another match, St. George’s face Santa Venera Lightnings.

The draws were held by Stewart Said – Manager Football Operations at the Malta FA and Jonathan Vella.

Match Day 1 will be played between September 11 and 13.

The National League 2 shall be composed of fourteen teams and shall be played on a double round-robin basis. At the end of the league, the club placed in the first position shall be declared champion and will be promoted along with the Runner-Up. On the other hand, he clubs placed in the last two positions would need to apply for re-instatement.

Once again, not more than one non-homegrown player can be on the field of play although two may be on the official match report form. However, for a club to field a non-homegrown player, the club must have at least one homegrown player who is under nineteen years of age before January 1, 2026. 

This requirement ceases to apply where such player/s is/are on the field of play is sent off by the referee player is injured and the team has used all substitutions.
