BOV National League I 2026/27: Marsa face Kalkara United on match day 1

Marsa, who were relegated from the Challenge League will be facing National Amateur League II champions Kalkara United on match day 1 of the BOV National League I 2026/27.

Mtarfa, who were also relegated, will face Mellieha. On the other hand, the other newly-promoted team – Dingli Swallows – face San Gwann. In other matches, Mqabba take on Lija Athletic, Senglea Athletic face Qrendi and Pembroke Athleta meet Qormi.

The draws were held by Stewart Said – Manager Football Operations at the Malta FA and Jonathan Vella.

Match Day 1 will be played between September 18 and 20.

The National League I shall be composed of twelve teams and shall be played on a double round-robin basis. At the end of the league, the club placed in the first shall be declared champion and will be promoted to the Challenge League along with the Runner-Up. On the other hand, the clubs placed in the last two positions shall be relegated to the National League 2.

As from this season, in the National League 1,

where two non-homegrown players are on the field of play, the club must have at least one homegrown player on the field of play and one homegrown player on the bench who are under nineteen years of age before January 1, 2026 or two homegrown players on the field of play who are under nineteen years of age before January 1, 2026.

This requirement ceases to apply where such player/s is/are on the field of play is sent off by the referee.
