Hibernians, Valletta share spoils in 2-2 draw

Hibernians notched a late equaliser to deny Valletta victory as the two teams shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the National Stadium on Sunday.

A draw which hardly did any good for Valletta as they remain third from bottom, on 21 points, three behind Mosta, five behind Santa Lucia and eighth behind Gzira. Hibernians, on the other hand, remain fifth on 34 points, three behind Marsaxlokk and one ahead of Birkirkara.

Valletta took the lead on the 34th minute thanks to a powerful drive by Brandon Paiber which beat goalkeeper Ibrahim Kone.

Hibs equalised eleven minutes in the second half when following a good move between Kurt Shaw, Mamadou Bagayoko and Alex Bruno, Shaw served Rodney Antwi who slotted the ball past the Valletta goalkeeper.

However Valletta regained the lead on the 64th courtesy of David Emmanuel Garba whose powerful shot from outside the area beat Kone.

Juan Andres Bolanos was sent off for Valletta twelve minutes from time after receiving a second yellow card.

With two minutes to go, Hibs notched the equaliser thanks to a great volley by Jurgen Degabriele from the edge of the area which beat goalkeeper Alessandro Guarnone.
