MFPA granted MFA recognition

The Malta Football Players is now recognised officially by the Malta Football Association.

Last year, the MFPA had submitted a request to the Malta Football Association for affiliation but this was not possible due to various clauses in the statute.

However in the past months, the MFPA provided all clarifications requested by the MFA and even amended various clauses in the statute in order to be in line with MFA regulations.

With the MFPA set to become a member of FIFPro – the worldwide representative organisation for professional football players, which is recognised by international organisations like FIFA and UEFA, recognition of the MFPA by the MFA was almost a formality.

In the mean time, the MFPA no longer seeked affiliation but only recognition, which is also in line with FIFPro regulations which prohibit members from being affiliated to the football association.

During the last FIFPro General Assembly which was held in Israel last year, the MFPA was awarded an observer status, the first step towards the FIFPro membership.
