Valletta’s Denni Rocha dos Santos was banned for three matches while Luke Sammut of Melita was suspended for two matches by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches from the BOV Premier League.
Another six players – Brooke Farrugia (Floriana), Marcelo Dias (Hibernians), Patrick Borg (Rabat), Paltemio Barbetti and Luca Martinelli (Sliema) and Justin Grioli (Tarxien) – were suspended for one match after collecting a fourth yellow card while goalkeepers Ini Akpan (Birkirkara) and Noel Attard (Mosta) were also banned for one match as they do not hold a valid medical certificate.
On the other hand, Melita coach Patxi Salinas was banned for three matches.
Denni will be missing Valletta’s next three games against Sliema, Hamrun and Balzan. Luke Sammut is ruled out for Melita in the games against Floriana and Tarxien.
Brooke Farrugia will be missing the game against Melita, Patrick Borg the game against Balzan while Barbetti and Martinelli are ruled out of the clash with Valletta. Marcelo Dias is ruled out of the game against Hibs, Grioli misses the match with Qormi while Akpan and Attard are ruled out of the clash between Birkirkara and Mosta.
In Division 1, Beppe Antingolo (Lija) was banned for one match.
Alexander Ellul (St. Patrick) was banned for two matches in Division 2 while Gilbert Martin (Fgura), Matthew Vella (Mellieha), Ishmael Cutajar (Mgarr), Shawn Vella (San Gwann), Iro Curmi (Siggiewi), Gordon Failla and Joey Reno Vella (St. Patrick), Matthew Schembri (Zurrieq) were banned for one match. Philip Chircop (Fgura), Jonathan Mallia (Msida), Steve Dimech (St. Patrick), Janiro Camilleri (Zebbug) and Petrovich Coreschi (Zurrieq) were also suspended for one match for failing to submit their medical certificates.
In Division 3, Sandro Galea (Qrendi) was suspended for two matches while Jean Claude Cachia (Attard), Justin Muscat (Luqa), Davide Mula (Qrendi), Christian Bugeja (Santa Lucia) were handed a one-match ban. Sergey Danilov (Marsa), Adrian Muscat (Qrendi) and Karl Seychell (Ta’ Xbiex) were also suspended for one match for failing to submit their medical certificates.
