Nadur hit five past Kercem to claim Jum il-Ħelsien Cup

gozo-faChampions Nadur Youngsters scored four goals in the second half to beat Kercem Ajax 5-0 to claim the Jum il-Ħelsien Cup. This was the fifth success for Nadur in this competition.

Sabri Rais was sent off for Kercem on the 38th minute but Anthony Portelli had a penalty saved by the Kercem goalkeeper a minute later. However Nadur managed to take the lead thanks to Joseph Portelli two minutes in added time.

Claudio Antunes doubled the score on 55 minutes and two goals by Milos Stojanovic on 67 and 71 minutes put the Youngsters four goals ahead. Kercem had a second player sent off – Aaron Buttigieg – and Claudio Antunes sealed the issue for Nadur with another goal on the 91st minute.

Meanwhile Sannat Lions were condemned to playing in the Second Division next season following a 1-3 defeat to SK Victoria Wanderers in another match on Sunday.

Eman Bugeja put the Wanderers ahead on the 5th minute but Bledar Vata levelled matters five minutes later. However a brace by Oliver Farrugia on the 18th and the 50th gave SK Victoria Wanderers the three points.

In fact, earlier this week, Xaghra United defeated Victoria Hotspurs 2-1.

Ejofir Nkwocha put the Hotspurs ahead but goals by Joseph Vella on the 10th and 88th gave Xaghra victory.

In Division 2, St. Lawrence Spurs were awarded a walk-over against Gharb Rangers while Oratory Youths and Ghajnsielem shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Shaun Attard converted a penalty to hand the champions the lead on the 23rd minute but Kenny Hili equalised on the 69th.

In another match, Qala Saints defeated Zebbug Rovers 3-0 courtesy of goals by Frank Paul Azzopardi on the 18th, Shaun Muscat on the 63rd and Carlton Mifsud on the 92nd minute.
