Wanderers aim at closing in on top two

sliema-mosta121210pzcSliema Wanderers will be all out to claim the three points on Tuesday as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Hibernians Stadium.

The Wanderers currently share the third place with Valletta on 27 points but a win over Mosta would put them just two points behind Hibernians and four behind leaders Birkirkara. They extended their unbeaten run to seven matches without defeat with a goalless draw with Tarxien in their last outing.

Mosta, on the other hand, are still seeking their first point in the Championship Pool. They lost eight of the last nine matches, suffering a 1-3 defeat to Hibernians in their last outing.

Mosta defeated Sliema 2-0 in the first round but the second round clash ended in a 2-0 win for Sliema.

Meanwhile in the first match, Qormi take on Floriana in a clash from the Relegation Pool.

The two teams currently lead the way in the Relegation Pool with 22 points, ten ahead of Hamrun Spartans who are currently second from bottom. Floriana won their last two matches, defeating Hamrun 3-0 in their last game. Qormi, on the other hand, are coming from a 4-4 draw with Balzan.

Qormi will be unable to field their best formation due to the absence of Kris Thackray and Leighton Grech.

The two first phase clashes ended in draws – 2-2 and 0-0.
