Justin Haber Academy players trains at Sunderland's Academy of Light

JustinHaberAcademy-in-Sunderland2013Three players from the Justin Haber Academy (JHA) elite squad have just spent a week’s training at Sunderland AFC’s (SAFC) academy, The Academy of Light.

The Academy of Light boasts state of the art facilities, and has recently been awarded the Category 1 Status within the Elite Player Performance Plan.

Players Leo Agius (10), Steve Farrugia (12), and Nathan Vella (13) were selected by JHA permanent head-coach Steve McClarence and SAFC International Development Coach Gordon Chisholm, and trained under professional SAFC coaches.

Leo Agius was selected to play an academy game against Newcastle United, scoring a goal in a 3-0 win and leaving a very good impression. During their stay the three players had the opportunity to meet and chat with SAFC manager Paolo Di Canio.

Open Week

JHA is hosting an Open Week for kids with a free session for each age group. This is the right opportunity for children and parents to see what the Justin Haber Academy has to offer and to train under the Academy’s Head Coach from SAFC Steve McClarence. The Open Week is between 25 and 31 May and age groups vary from 3-5 year olds to 14-16 year olds.

The new programmes include the ‘Little Dribblers’ session which is specifically designed to work with children aged 3-5. The program incorporates movement specific programmes such as Early Moves and Basic Moves as well as introducing spatial awareness to the young participants.

JHA is also the first ever Academy in Malta to provide Girls Only Football Sessions, where girls will learn a variety of new skills and techniques through small sided games. A special goalkeepers’ session with Malta international goalkeeper Justin Haber is also part of the programme.
