The Malta Football Association announced that during a meeting of the Executive Committee which was held on Tuesday, it was decided that fresh charges will be issued against two former Hamrun Spartans committee members Elton Borg and Julian Friggieri with regards to their involvement in attempt to bribe players with the intention of influencing the results of games during season 2012/13.
Fresh charges will also be issued against the club while former captain Roderick Fenech will also be charged with failing to report a match-fixing attempt he knew about.
Meanwhile the MFA Prosecutor issued a conditional exemption order with regards to Gianluca Calabretta who collaborated fully with the Prosecutor in the investigations.
The MFA Prosecutor withdrew the charges against Gianluca Calabretta and recommended the temporary suspension of the player since further investigations showed that the player was not involved in these attempts.
