Stanley Ohawuchi is the BOV Player of the Month for September

stanley-ohawuchi-pom-sep2013An eight-goal burst in the first six league matches of the 2012/13 season rewarded Sliema Wanderers’ Stanley Ohawuchi with an early bonanza in the shape of the BoV Player of the Month for September 2013.

Last season the Sliema forward’s predatory instincts soon caught the eye after joining the Wanderers midway through the season. Sliema rightly acknowledged these striking qualities and, needless to say, Ohawuchi was in the plans of Italian coach Alfonso Greco for this season.

The retention of the Nigerian striker, who represented the Flying eagles at the FIFA U-20 World Cup back in 2009, as a diamond-cutting edge for Sliema’s attacking formation was soon vindicated. In September, he netted the solitary goal against Balzan and Floriana and scored a brace in the 3-3 roller-coaster against Tarxien Rainbows.

More of the same from this speedy and crafty Nigerian will definitely mean a welcome boost for Sliema as they aim to break the dominance of leading trio – Bikirkara, Hibernians and Valletta.

Horace Laudi, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Sliema Branch, presented Stanley Ohawuchi with the BOV trophy. The Creche in Sliema was the charity chosen by the player himself to receive the monthly donation associated with this award.
