Xewkija Tigers now share the top spot in the Melita First Division in Gozo after beating leaders SK Victoria Wanderers in this weekend’s big match.
The Wanderers had Peter Anizoba sent off and Xewkija took full advantage to take the lead through Christian Bugeja two minutes from the end of the first half. Fernando Giarrizzo levelled matters on the 69th minute but Mark Camilleri notched the winner on the 90th.
Kercem Ajax moved to just one point behind third-placed Nadur Youngsters thanks to a 3-0 win over Oratory Youths.
Malcolm Vella opened the score on 23 minutes and Andrew Mizzi made it 2-0 three minutes from the end of the first half. Ian Xuereb sealed the issue with a third goal on 65 minutes.
Xewkija and SKVW lead the way with 24 points, followed by Nadur on 22, Kercem 20, Victoria Hotspurs 16, Oratory 13, Munxar 3 and Xaghra 0.
In the Melita Second Division, Ghajnsielem are the new leaders as they defeated Gharb Rangers 3-1 courtesy of goals by Kenny Hili, Charlon Tabone and Joseph Attard. Jerry Anyanwu had levelled matters early in the second half.
In another match, a goal by Michael Zerafa gave Zebbug Rovers a narrow win over Qala Saints.
