Xewkija Tigers and Nadur Youngsters maintained their hundred percent record in the Melita First Division in Gozo as both registered wins this weekend.
On Friday, champions Xewkija beat SK Victoria Wanderers 2-1. John Camilleri put the Tigers ahead after just one minute and Adolfo Sanz Ortis levelled matters on 23 minutes. Despite having a player sent off, Xewkija regained the lead through Daniel Bogdanovic on the 73rd minute with SKVW also having a player dismissed late in the game.
Nadur Youngsters registered a 3-0 win over Oratory Youths on Sunday. Joseph Grima put the Youngsters ahead two minutes from the end of the first half and a brace by Claudio Antunes on 51 and 64 minutes sealed the issue with Nadur.
Newly-promoted Sannat Lions and St Lawrence Spurs earned their first point as they shared the spoils in a direct clash on Sunday.
In another match on Friday, Kercem Ajax beat Victoria Hotspurs 3-1. Anderson Mendes Ribeiro scored twice on 44 and 52 minutes to put Kercem two goals ahead. Rodeny Buttigieg pulled one back for the Hotspurs on 59 minutes but Luke Meilak made it 3-1 on 77 minutes.
In the Melita Second Division, Ghajnsielem registered their third win as the beat Munxar Falcons 2-0 thanks to goals by Charlon Tabone and Joseph Attard in the first twelve minutes.
Qala Saints defeated Gharb Rangers 3-2. Manuel Buttigieg scored twice in the first half to put Qala two goals ahead. Frank Attard reduced the gap for the Rangers by converted a penalty but then missed the chance to level matters, hitting high from another penalty. Christoph Caruana made it 3-1 for Qala before Frank Attard scored a second goal for Gharb.
In another match on Wednesday, Zebbug Rovers defeated Xaghra United 3-1. A brace by Manwel Cordina gave Zebbug a two-goal lead before Franklin Cassar added a third goal on the 90th. Daniel Bartolo scored a consolation goal for Xaghra in stoppage time.
