Balzan FC’s Alan da Silva Souza is the BOV Player of the Month for January 2016.

The Brazilian midfielder made an immediate impact in the BOV Premier League having been signed by Balzan in the beginning of January by scoring a goal in Balzan’s 4-1 victory over Mosta in his first match. Da Silva Souza turned past two defenders before hitting a low shot into the back of the net.

With four victories in as many matches during January, Balzan have put their championship challenge back on track by keeping the pressure on the top teams.

Da Silva Souza, who helped Valletta to the title two seasons ago, continued on his positive streak, scoring a goal each against St Andrews’s and Qormi, the latter from a penalty.

Bernard Azzopardi, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Birkirkara Branch presented the BOV Player of the Month trophy for January 2016 to Alan da Silva Souza. The player chose Hospice Malta to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
