Mgarr United collected three precious points in the battle against relegation as they notched a dramatic winner in added time to beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s by the odd goal in five in a match from the BOV Second Division on Wednesday. The match was originally played on January 23 but was abandoned on the 65th minute due to a power failure.
Kenneth Aquilina put Mgarr ahead on the 16th minute and Jonathan Ebejer doubled the score on the 59th. Birzebbuga pulled one back on the 65th through Aaron Dalli and five minutes from time, Ronnie Celeste equalised. However two minutes in added time, Lazar Doric scored for Mgarr to give them the three points.
Gharghur and Sirens lead the way with 34 points, followed by Marsa on 33, Zabbar 28, Siggiewi 25, Birzebbuga and Zejtun 23, Qrendi 21, Mellieha and Swieqi 19, Mgarr 18, Kirkop 15, Zurrieq 6 and Msida 5.
