SK Victoria Wanderers shock Kercem Ajax

SK Victoria Wanderers came from behind to beat Kercem Ajax 3-2 to collect three precious points in the battle against relegation in one of the three matches from the Gozo Football League First Division.

Claudio Antunes converted a penalty on the 11th to put Kercem ahead with Predrag Djordevic equalising three minutes from the end of the first half. Andrew Mizzi restored the lead for the Ajax but a penalty by David Udo Monday restored equilibrium on the 81st and one minute from time, Sam Harland notched the winner for SKVW.

On Sunday, leaders Ghajnsielem defeated St. Laurence Spurs 3-0. Shaun Bajada put the Blacks ahead after just one minute, Charles Hili doubled the score on the 57th and Kenny Hili added another four minutes from time.

In another match, Victoria Hotspurs defeated Oratory Youths 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Michael Camilleri on the 63rd.

Meanwhile in the Gozo Football League Second Division, Gharb Rangers registered an impressive 4-2 win over Nadur Youngsters despite going two goals down. in fact, Brandon Said scored twice on the 12th and 24th to put the Youngsters two goals ahead but three minutes from the end of the first half, Paul Anthony Attard pulled one back. Eight minutes from time, Frank Attard levelled matters and on the 89th minute, a Christian Attard penalty turned the score in Gharb’s favour with Sylvan Galea sealing the issue on the 90th.

In another match at the Sannat Ground, Munxar Falcons and Zebbug Rovers shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
