Nine Premier League players suspended

Nine Premier League players were banned by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Jorge Mesqueu Neto of Hamrun was suspended for three matches while Antonio Monticelli (Floriana), Marcelo Mariano Dias (Hibs), Kurt Magro, Kyle Frendo and Adrian Caruana (Mosta), Peter Xuereb (Sliema), Joseph Farrugia (St. Andrews) and Alex da Paixao Alves (Tarxien) were banned for one match.

Jorginho is ruled out of Hamrun’s next three games against Balzan, Valletta and Hibernians. Dias and Farrugia will miss the clash between St. Andrews and Hibernians, Magro, Frendo and Caruana are ruled out for Mosta against Floriana who will lack Antonio Monticelli, Xuereb skips the game against Pembroke and Alex da Paixao the clash with Valletta.

Meanwhile in Division 1, Christopher Cutajar (Marsa) was banned for five matches and Tyrone Farrugia (Sirens) for three. Benjamin Essel (Marsa), Karl Cutajar (Mqabba), Angus Buhagiar (Naxxar), Iro Curmi (Sirens) and Liam Gauci (Vittoriosa) were all handed a one-match ban. Lija Athletic official Colin Ciantar was banned for four matches.

In Division 2, Darren Sciberras (Marsaxlokk) was banned for three matches while James Borg and Lydon Micallef (Mellieha), Matthew Agius (Mgarr), Bydasser Sammut (Qrendi), Josef Cutajar (San Gwann), Jean Alesi (St. George’s) and Glendon Refalo (Swieqi) were suspended for one match.

In Division 3, Etienne Farrugia (Dingli), Luca Mizzi (Kirkop), Claudio Calleja (Luqa), Roderick Sammut (Mtarfa), Anoine Barbara (Xghajra), David Bugeja and Brendan Scerri (Zurrieq) were all banned for one match.
