BOV Division 1: Pietà return to winning ways

Pietà Hotspurs returned to winning ways as a goal by Neil Pace Cocks on the 72nd minute gave them a narrow win over Qrendi at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday in one of the four BOV First Division matches in programme on Sunday.

Rabat Ajax suffered yet another heavy defeat as they lost 1-5 to Vittoriosa Stars at the Centenary Stadium. Liam Gauci put Vittoriosa ahead on the 36th and just before half-time, Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe doubled the score. Ogunnupe added another three goals in the first half on the 70th, 87th and 93rd with Shaun Gauci scoring a consolation goal for Rabat on the 80th.

Marsa came from behind to beat Zabbar St. Patrick 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Kurt Borg put Zabbar ahead on the 3rd minute but Romer Alexis Alegria Jimenez equalised on the 10th minute and Dylan Pirotta notched the winner on the 72nd.

A goal one minute from time by Paul Chimezie gave Mqabba a narrow win over San Gwann at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

Qormi lead the way with 18 points, followed by Pietà on 12, Zebbug and Vittoriosa 11, Sirens, Mqabba, Qrendi and San Gwann 10, Zejtun 9, Marsa, Zabbar and Melita 6, Rabat 0 and Pembroke -1. Pembroke had ten points deducted.
