BOV Division 2: Late goal puts Swieqi back on top

A goal on the 90th minute by Nicholas Schembri gave Swieqi United a narrow win over St George’s at the Sirens Stadium in one of the four BOV Second Division matches on Sunday. A win which ensured they move back on top.

At the Luxol Stadium, Gudja United and Siggiewi earned a point each in a 1-1 draw. Anthony Ewurum put Gudja ahead on the 26th but two minutes in the second half, Trayo Grozev levelled matters for Siggiewi.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Mgarr United defeated Gharghur 3-1. Kenneth Aquilina put Mgarr ahead on the 36th and seven minutes in the second half, Daniel Cremona doubled the score. Lazar Doric sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes later with Tyron Pace scoring a consolation goal for Gharghur three minutes from time.

In a match at the Sirens Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Fgura United shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Swieqi lead the way with 17 points, followed by Kalkara on 16, Fgura 13, Siggiewi and Birzebbuga 12, Marsaxlokk and Mgarr 11, Gudja and Santa Lucia 10, Attard 6, St. George’s and Luqa 4 and Gharghur 2. St. George’s had two points deducted.
