Six Premier League players suspended

Six Premier League players were suspended by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Maurizio Vella (Floriana) was handed a three-match ban while Edward Herrera (Birkirkara), Rodolfo Soares (Hibernians), Leejoe Schembri (Lija), Josuel Spiteri (Senglea) and Steve Borg (Valletta) were banned for one match.

Vella is ruled out of Floriana’s next three matches against Hamrun, Balzan and Gzira. Steve Borg misses the big match against Balzan, Leejoe Schembri the game against Sliema, Rodolfo Soares the clash with  Mosta, Josuel Spiteri the match against Tarxien and Edward Herrera the game against Naxxar.

In Division 1, Clive Spiteri (Vittoriosa) was handed a hefty seven-match ban while Adrian Caruana (Marsa), Aidan Mizzi (Melita), Tomioslav Trebovac and Luke Vella (Mqabba), Neil Grech and Owen Bugeja (Pembroke), Alan Abela (Qormi), Nezar Abouhaisa (San Gwann), Liam Gauci (Vittoriosa) and Mauro Bonnici (Zebbug) and Brooke Farrugia (Zejtun) were all banned for one-match. Pietà kit manager Anthony Cassar was banned for two matches.

Cristian Jesus Suarez Leon (Kalkara) was suspended for three matches in Division 2 while Glendon Refalo (Gharghur) and Marlon Farrugia (St. George’s) were all banned for one match.

In Division 3, Miguel Grech (Dingli), Martin Busuttil and Mark Ellul (Ghaxaq), Eric Sciberras (Sta. Venera), Andrew Xuereb (Ta’ Xbiex) and Deemer Cutajar (Xghajra) were all handed a one-match ban.
