After winning a first friendly match 1-0 on Tuesday, the Malta Under-19 side lost the second game to Luxembourg 2-1 at the Stade um Dribbel in Bascharage on Thursday.
Luxembourg took the lead late in the first half through Lucas Coopmans. Malta equalised thanks to an Alex Satariano header mid-way through the second half but eight minutes from time, substitute Dany Camilo Almeida made it 2-1 for Luxembourg.
These friendly matches were part of the Malta Under-19 squad’s build-up for their commitments in the qualifying round of the UEFA Under-19 Championship where Malta will be hosting Belgium, France and Lithuania in the Group 6 mini-tournament, being staged in Malta between November 14 and 20.
