Gharb Rangers and Xewkija Tigers both registered fine wins in the two matches from the BOV Gozo Football League First Division at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.
Gharb defeated Ghajnsielem 4-1 to move fourth. Christian Attard put the Rangers ahead on the 5th minute and three minutes in the second half, Hugo Santa Rosa Cruz doubled the score. Junior Elisio Batista Da Conceicao increased the lead on the 66th and although Luis Andre De Melo Lima pulled one back eleven minutes from time, Hugo Santa Rosa Cruz made it 4-1 four minutes later.
In another match, Xewkija Tigers defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 5-2 to join Nadur in second place. The Tigers managed to build a three-goal lead by half-time as Darko Krstic put them ahead on the 10th, Danijel Bogdanovic doubled the score on the 16th and five minutes later, Milos Stojanovic added another. Goals by Gennaro Hili on the 59th and Krstic seven minutes later, increased the lead further. However SKVW reduced the gap with goals by Aud-Gustine James Obaje on the 69th and James William Meilak two minutes later.
In the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday, Xaghra United moved top thanks to a 6-1 win over Qala Saints, courtesy of two hat-tricks by Samson Remi Gabriel (13, 47 and 73) and Johnny Camilleri (25, 52 and 60). Fatos Zeqiri had converted a penalty to reduce the arrears on the 40th.
In another match, Zebbug Rovers defeated St Lawrence Spurs 1-0 thanks to a goal by Luke Meilak three minutes from time.
