Marsa are the new leaders of the BOV Second Division after defeating Melita in the match of the week at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
A goal by Shalon Diacono on the 70th minute ensured Marsa maintained their unbeaten record while condemning Melita to their first defeat.
Marsaxlokk moved third thanks to a fine 4-0 win over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s at the Luxol Stadium. Ryan Sell scored twice – on the 12th and the 37th to put them two goals ahead. Keith Muscat increased the lead on the 61st before Daniel Debono added another two minutes from time.
Zurrieq left it till late to defeat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Claudio Calleja opened the scoring seven minutes from time and four minutes later, Warren Zerafa sealed the issue with a second goal.
On the other hand, in another match at the Luxol Stadium, Xghajra Tornados and San Gwann shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Adam Falzon put San Gwann ahead but Royter Degiorgio equalised on the 61st. Nestor Luis Silva Canas coverted a penalty to give Xghajra the lead on teh 73rd but ten minutes from time, Christian Gauci notched the equaliser for San Gwann.
Marsa lead the way with 11 points, followed by Melita on 10, Marsaxlokk 9, Rabat 8, Mgarr and Zurrieq 7, San Gwann and Kalkara 6, Mellieha and Xghajra 5, Zabbar 3, Birzebbuga 2 and Luqa 1.
