Xewkija Tigers maintain positive record

Xewkija Tigers maintained their unbeaten run in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated Kercem Ajax 3-0 at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

A penalty by Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior in added time before the end of the first half enabled Xewkija to forge ahead. The same player doubled the score on the 61st and after Kercem had a player sent off, Claudio Antunes increased the lead further on the 79th. Four minutes from time, Ali Oularbi could have scored a consolation goal for Kercem but hit the crossbar from the penalty spot.

Ghajnsielem returned to winning ways as they defeated SK Victoria Wanderers 1-0. Alberto Xuereb scored the all-important goal on the 73rd minute.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Bartomeu Perello Palou was the hero for Oratory Youths with a hat-trick as they defeated Zebbug Rovers 4-1 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. Daniel Azzopardi opened the score on the 15th minute but just before the end of the first half, Tiago Barbosa levelled matters. However Perello Palou scored three – on the 53rd, 56th and 80th to hand Oratory the three points.

In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs beat Qala Saints 3-1. Matthias Michael Uzor gave St. Lawrence the lead on the 6th and three minutes from the end of the first half, Charlon Farrugia doubled the score. Mohammed Senussi Telessi pulled one back on the 70th but nine minutes later, Charlton Mifsud made it 3-1.
