BOV Division 3: Siggiewi move top

Siggiewi are the new leaders in the BOV Third Division as they defeated Mdina Knights 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.

Ikechukwu Igwemeke put Siggiewi ahead on the 5th minute and although Wayne Camilleri equalised five minutes later, an own goal restored the lead for Siggiewi on the 23rd with Igwemeke adding another on the 65th.

Attard are now second after beating St. Venera Lightnings 5-1 at the Luxol Stadium. A penalty by Nigel Spiteri after just two minutes put Attard ahead and two minutes later, they doubled the score thanks to an own goal. Raphael Kooh Sohna increased the lead on the 25th and although a Shamison Farrugia penalty on the 38th minute reduced the gap for the Lightnings, Kooh Sohna made it 4-1 seven minutes in the second half. Nicholas Schembri added another seven minutes from time.

A goal by Ciro Quaranta on the 45th minute handed Msida St. Joseph a narrow win over Gharghur at the Sirens Stadium while goals by Daniel Cilia on the 35th and Mark Vassallo on the 40th enabled Dingli Swallows to register their first win as they beat Ghaxaq 2-0 at the Luxol Stadium.

Siggiewi lead the way with 10 points, followed by Attard on 9, Kirkop and Marsaskala 8, Msida, Ghaxaq and Gharghur 7, Mtarfa and Dingli 3, Sta. Venera 2, Mdina 1, Ta’ Xbiex 0.
