Early goals pave the way for comfortable Floriana win

Two goals in the first seven minutes paved the way for a most comfortable 5-0 win over Senglea Athletic at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

A win which enables Vincenzo Potenza’s side to extend their positive run on top the BOV Premier League table to eight matches.

For Senglea, this was the third defeat in the last five matches to remain on the 11-point mark.

The Greens had a perfect start taking the lead on the 3rd minute when Matias Garcia released Brandon Paiber on the right and off the latter’s cross, Kristian Keqi hit home past goalkeeper Anthony Curmi.

Four minutes later, Floriana doubled the score thanks to a header by Matias Garcia  following a cross by Diego Venancio from the left.

Seven minutes in the second half, the Greens scored the third goal when they were awarded a penalty after Marcelo Dias handled the ball inside the area and from the penalty spot, the usual Kristian Keqi made no mistake.

Senglea were reduced to ten men on the 63rd minute after Elvis Sakyi received a second yellow card.

Floriana made it 4-0 on the 57th minute thanks to a diagonal shot by Tiago Adan Fonseca which hit the foot of the upright before ending at the back of the net.

Sixteen minutes from time, the Greens scored a fifth goal for Floraian when Tiago Adan Fonseca, served by Caseres, had a shot saved partially by the goalkeeper with Terence Vella hitting home from close range.
