Another six teams through to FA Trophy third round

Pietà Hotspurs defeated St. George’s 4-1 in a clash between two First Division sides at the Victor Tedesco Stadium as six matches from the second round of the FA Trophy were scheduled for Saturday.

James Scicluna put the Hotspurs ahead on the 5th minute and Sheldon Pisani doubled the score on the 27th. Jeremy Delmar made it 3-0 on the half-hour and James Scicluna added another on the 85th. Takumi Hiruma scored a consolation goal for the Cospicua side one minute from time.

In another match, St. Andrews defeated Second Division side Marsaxlokk 3-1.

A brace by Mattia Veselji on the 40th and 72nd put the Saints two goals ahead and Malcolm Vella Vidal added another on the 86th. Alan Tabone pulled one back thanks to a penalty two minutes from time.

Second Division side Rabat Ajax came from behind to beat Gharghur from Division Three 4-1 at the Sirens Stadium.

Allan Fernandes Moreira converted a penalty on the 15th minute to hand Gharghur the lead but one minute in the second half, Javier Jimenez levelled matters. Isaac Abela scored on the 51st to put Rabat ahead and the same player made it 3-1 on the 77th. Three minutes from time, Larens Vella sealed the issue with a fourth goal.

In another clash between a team from Division 2 and another from Division 3 at the Sirens Stadium, Mgarr United beat Ghaxaq 5-1.

Lazar Doric put Mgarr ahead on the 6th minute and Joseph Paul Zammit doubled the score on the 13th. Jurgen Gerada pulled one back for Ghaxaq ten minutes in the second half but Mgarr scored goals by Gordon Saliba on the 76th, Jamie Lee Micallef on the 83rd and Kenneth Aquilina in added time to extend the lead.

Melita defeated Zurrieq 2-0 in a clash between two Second Division sides at the Luxol Stadium.

Michael Cachia converted a penalty just before the end of the first half with Daniel Claridge converting another on the 68th.

In another match at the Luxol Stadium, First Division side Swieqi United defeated Second Division side Mellieha 4-1.

Matheus de Albuquerque de Souza put Swieqi ahead after just two minutes. Felipe Nunes Fernandes doubled the score on the hour and the same player added another seven minutes later. Luke Taliana scored a fourth goal for Swieqi nine minutes from time but two minutes later, David Fenech scored a consolation goal for Mellieha.

Pietà Hotspurs, St. Andrews, Swieqi United, Rabat Ajax, Mgarr United and Melita join San Gwann and Lija Athletic and the fourteen teams from the Premier League in the third round which will be played in the first weekend of December.
