BOV Division 1: Three teams in second place as St. Andrews beat Qrendi

St. Andrews came from a goal down to beat Qrendi 2-1 in one of the two BOV First Division matches at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Dhonathan Santos da Hora converted a penalty to put Qrendi ahead on the 58th minute but St. Andrews turned the score in their favour with goals by Kemmu Degran Jackson on the 71st and Joseph Farrugia on the 77th.

On the other hand, Qormi and Pieta’ Hotspurs shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

A penalty by Jordy Lokando on the 18th minute put Qormi ahead and Freud Gnindokponou doubled the score four minutes later. However a brace by former Qormi striker Jose Lucas Caetano da Silva on the 30th and 39th restored equilibrium. Tensior Gusman made it 3-2 for Qormi on the 45th but Nicholas Pisani levelled matters on the 69th.

Lija lead the way with 18 points, followed by Pieta’, Qrendi and St. Andrews on 14, Zejtun 12, Naxxar and Pembroke 10, Qormi 9, St. George’s and Zebbug 8, Swieqi and Mqabba 7, Fgura 6 and Vittoriosa 4.
