Sliema Wanderers return to winning ways

With a goal in each half, Sliema Wanderers defeated Hamrun Spartans 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

The Wanderers therefore return to winning ways after losing their last four matches. This win enables Alfonso Greco’s side to leapfrog Birkirkara and Gudja United. Hamrun, on the other hand, have now gone three matches without a win and therefore continue to share the sixth place with Hibernians, who, however, have a game in hand.

The Wanderers took the lead on the 29th minute thanks to a Robert Johan Carvajal Diaz effort from the edge of the area which beat goalkeeper Jean Claude Debattista.

Sliema doubled the score on the 67th minute when Claudio Zappa’s effort was blocked and off the rebound, Kurt Shaw placed the ball at the back of the net.
