Floriana hope to extend lead

Floriana will be hoping to extend the lead on top the BOV Premier League table as they take on Hibernians at the National Stadium on Sunday, kick-off at 16:00.

The Greens lead the way with 23 points, four ahead of Gzira, five ahead of Valletta, six ahead of Sirens and seven ahead of Hibernians.

Floriana won their last five matches to extend their unbeaten record to nine matches. Another win on Saturday, coupled with a favourable result from the first game would enable Vincenzo Potenza’s side to extend the lead on top.

Hibernians registered back-to-back wins over Santa Lucia and Hamrun Spartans to climb up the table and now seek another positive result from this clash.

In the first match, kick-off at 14:00, Gzira United take on Sirens.

Like Floriana, Gzira are still unbeaten and are coming from five consecutive wins, scoring nineteen in the process. Another win on Sunday would confirm the Maroons as the main challengers for the title along with Floriana.

However, newly-promoted Sirens will be aiming at returning to winning ways following a goalless draw with Valletta last week. With a win, the St. Paul’s Bay side would leapfrog Valletta and Gzira into the second place.
