Nadur Youngsters maintain perfect record

Nadur Youngsters maintained their perfect run in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they defeated Kercem Ajax 3-0 at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.

Marcelo Barbosa had a penalty saved by the Kercem goalkeeper mid-way through the first half but Shaun Attard managed to put them ahead ten minutes in the second half. Hugo Santa Rosa Cruz doubled the score just past the hour and one minute from time, Marcelo Barbosa sealed the issue with a third goal.

Xewkija Tigers kept the pace with the leaders thanks to a 4-1 win over SK Victoria Wanderers. Rodney Buttigieg gave Xewkija the lead on the 20th and a Jackson de Lima penalty three minutes in the second half and a Jose Carlos Nogueira Junior goal extended the lead to 3-0 before Johnny Camilleri added another on the 71st. Aud-Gustine James Obaje pulled one back from the penalty spot for the Wanderers.

Goals by Henrique de Souza Maciel on the 23rd, Andrew Mizzi on the 63rd and Emiliano Lattes in added time handed Victoria Hotspurs a 3-0 win over Xaghra United on Wednesday.

Last week, Gharb Rangers claimed their first three points thanks to a 4-2 win over Ghajnsielem. Joseph Grima put Gharb ahead two minutes from the end of the first half and seven minutes in the second half, Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes doubled the score. Haruna Shola Shodija increased the lead five minutes later but Michael Bezzina reduced the gap on the 66th. Pablo Vinicius Ferreira scored Gharb’s fourth goal a minute later with Alberto Xuereb reducing the arrears on the 70th.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions maintain a two-point lead over Oratory Youths.

Sannat registered a most comfortable 8-1 win over Zebbug Rovers. The Lions scored four in the first half thanks to Antoine Camilleri on the 22nd and the 41st and Ebube Ralph Okpokwu on the 30th and 39th. Camilleri scored another ten minutes in the second half and two minutes later, Joseph Zammit made it 6-0. Frank Attard reduced the gap on the 63rd but Sannat extended the lead through Ebube Ralph Okpokwu on the 78th and an own goal six minutes later.

Oratory Youths defeated St. Lawrence Spurs 2-0 courtesy of Bartomeu Perello Palou on the 70th and Keith Farrugia on the 85th and went on to register a dramatic 3-2 win over Zebbug Rovers. Paul Said put Oratory ahead on the 36th but a Tiago Barbosa brace on the 48th and 71st turned the score in Zebbug’s favour. However stoppage-time goals by Chris Borg and Marco Ciangura gave Oratory the three points.

In another match, a brace by Felipe Augusto de Oliveira on the 16th and 42nd handed Qala Saints a 2-0 win over Munxar Falcons.
