Zejtun Corinthians are the new leaders of the BOV First Division after they defeated Pieta’ Hotspurs 1-0 in one of the three matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe scored the all-important goal for the Corinthians on the 32nd minute.
Qormi returned to winning ways as they defeated Mqabba 3-0 courtesy of a Tensior Gusman hat-trick – on the 15th, 65th and 74th.
In another match, Zebbug Rangers were held in a 1-1 draw by Vittoriosa Stars. Samuel Buhagiar put Zebbug ahead on the 62nd minute but Vittoriosa hit back with a goal by Keith Vella on the 64th
Zejtun lead the way with 24 points, followed by Lija on 22, Naxxar, Qrendi and St. Andrews 20, Pieta’ 17, Pembroke 16, Zebbug 15, Swieqi 14, Qormi 12, Mqabba and St. George’s 10, Vittoriosa 8 and Fgura 7.
