Mgarr United and San Gwann kept the pace with leaders Marsa in the BOV Second Division as they both registered wins on Sunday.
At the Luxol Stadium, Mgarr came from behind to beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-2. Alan Abdel Rahman gave Luqa the lead two minutes from the end of the first half but Kenneth Aquilina scored twice on the 75th and 81st to put Mgarr ahead with an own goal sealing the issue five minutes from time. Luqa, however, scored a second goal on the 90th through Gilbert Camilleri.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, San Gwann defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 7-0. Christian Gauci put San Gwann two goals ahead with goals on the 17th and 35th. Justin Zammit added another just before the end of the first half. In the second half, Andrea Zammit scored on the 50th and 56th and Matthew Xuereb added another on the 74th. Andrea Zammit completed his hat-trick two minutes from time.
Rabat Ajax moved fourth as they defeated Xghajra Tornados 3-2 at the Luxol Stadium. Luke Gatt put the Magpies ahead on the 16th minute and Larens Vella doubled the score on the 26th. Aidan Azzopardi increased the lead two minutes in the second half but Xghajra reduced the arrears through Royter Degiorgio on the 70th and Nestor Luis Silva Canas four minutes from time.
Marsaxlokk came back from two goals down to earn a point in a 2-2 draw with Melita at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Noel Omondi opened the score on the 13th minute for Melita and substitute Matthew Debattista made it 2-0 on the 61st. Ryan Sammut pulled one back on the 77th and Keith Muscat notched the equaliser four minutes later.
Marsa lead the way with 25 points, followed by Mgarr and San Gwann on 22, Rabat 21, Marsaxlokk 19, Melita 18, Zurrieq 17, Kalkara 14, Birzebbuga 11, Mellieha 9, Xghajra 8, Zabbar 7, Luqa 5.
