Champions Victoria Hotspurs suffered their second defeat in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they lost 0-3 to Ghajnsielem at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday.
Igor Nedeljkovic put the Blacks ahead just before half-time and doubled the score eleven minutes in the second half. Nemanja Stojanovic sealed the issue with a third goal on the 67th minute.
In another match, Kercem Ajax came from behind to beat Gharb Rangers 4-2. Joel Xuereb opened the score on the 7th minute and a Haruna Shola Shodija penalty made it 2-0 just before half-time. Andrea Debrincat reduced the gap on the 56th but in the dying minutes, the unthinkable happened as Darko Krstic equalised on the 83rd and four minutes later, Jean Paul Mizzi put Kercem 3-2 ahead. Thomas Vella added another three minutes in added time.
Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Oratory Youths kept the pace with leaders Sannat Lions as they defeated Munxar Falcons 5-2 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday.
Goals by Justin Azzopardi on the 13th, Chris Borg on the 18th and Bartomeu Perello Palou on the 28th put Oratory three goals ahead but on the half-hour, Ayesller Carvalho converted a penalty to reduce the gap. Chris Borg made it 4-1 one minute in the second half and four minutes later, Carvalho scored a second goal for Munxar. Marco Ciangura scored Oratory’s fifth one minute from time.
In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs registered a fine 5-1 win over Zebbug Rovers thanks to a brace by Matthias Michael Uzor (15′ and 88′) and another by Charlton Mifsud (45′ and 52′) with Charlon Farrugia scoring the other goal on the 83rd. Tiago Barbosa scored a consolation goal for Zebbug on the 56th when the Spurs were leading 3-0.
