Leaders Zejtun Corinthians were held in a 1-1 draw by Zebbug Rangers in one of the three matches from the BOV First Division at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Saturday Nanapere put Zebbug ahead on the 45th but Zejtun equalised thanks to a Dylan Agius penalty on the 72nd.

Lija Athletic failed to close in on the leaders following a 3-3 draw with Pembroke Athleta. 

Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos gave Pembroke the lead on the 18th minute and Luka Mijic doubled the score on the 33rd. Lija hit back with a hat-trick by Erjon Beu on the 49th, 73rd (penalty) and 81st. However Pembroke rescued a point with a goal by Neil Frendo.

In another match, Swieqi United defeated Naxxar Lions by the odd goal in five. 

Alan Schembri Wismayer converted a penalty after just one minute to put Swieqi ahead and Ebenezer Tejumola Ayorinde doubled the score just before the end of the first half. Gilberto Martins Carrara Leite reduced the gap on the 73rd and two minutes later, Felipe Nunes Fernandes made it 3-1. Seven minutes from time, Edson Farias Cerqueira converted a penalty for Naxxar.

Zejtun lead the way with 29 points, followed by Lija on 26, St. Andrews 25, Pembroke and Qrendi 23, Naxxar 22, Pieta’ 19, Swieqi 18, Qormi and Zebbug 16, Mqabba and St. George’s 14, Fgura and Vittoriosa 12.
