Leaders Marsa keep marching on in the BOV Second Division thanks to a 2-1 win over Luqa St. Andrew’s in one of the three matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Francesco Gusman put Marsa ahead on the 65th minute and one minute from time, Kurt Zammit converted a penalty to double the score. Luqa pulled one back thanks to a penalty by Darrell Grech deep into stoppage time.
Zurrieq collected three points in a 3-0 win over Mellieha. Ayrton Micallef put Zurrieq ahead on the 9th minute and Andre Joe Cutajar doubled the score on the 72nd. Daniel Debono sealed the issue with a third goal in added time.
On the other hand, Kalkara returned to winning ways as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 courtesy of Ion Alin Margarit on the 15th and Yessous Camilleri on the 29th.
Marsa lead the way with 31 points followed by Mgarr on 27, San Gwann on 26, Marsaxlokk 25, Rabat 24, Zurrieq 21, Kalkara 20, Melita 19, Birzebbuga and Mellieha 15, Zabbar 10, Xghajra 9 and Luqa 6.
