A goal by Luke Farrugia on the hour handed Qormi three precious points as they registered a shock win over leaders Zejtun Corinthians in a match from the BOV First Division at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

The Corinthians therefore stay just two points ahead of Lija Athletic.

Pembroke Athleta and St. George’s shared the spoils in a goalless draw while Mqabba and Vittoriosa Stars earned a point each in a 1-1 draw Alexsandro Ferreira converted a penalty on the 70th for Mqabba but Haruna Shola Shodiya equalised nine minutes from time.

Zejtun lead the way with 32 points, followed by Lija on 30, Qrendi and St. Andrews 26, Naxxar 25, Pembroke 24, Naxxar 22, Pieta’, Qormi and Swieqi 20, Zebbug 17, Fgura and Vittoriosa 16, Mqabba and St. George’s 15.
