After two draws and a defeat, Mgarr United returned to winning ways as they defeated Kalkara United 2-1 in one of the three matches from the BOV Second Division in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Clayton Borg put Mgarr ahead on the 46th minute and although Aaron Agius equalised on the 67th when he converted a penalty, Jamie Lee Micallef notched the winner for Patrick Curmi’s side eight minutes from time.
Zabbar St. Patrick claimed three precious points as they beat Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 thanks to a brace by Shawn Vella on the 61st and 78th.
In another match, Melita scored two late goals as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0. Luke Mifsud opened the score and Michael Cachia converted a penalty to make it 2-0.
Marsa lead the way with 34 points followed by San Gwann on 32, Mgarr 30, Marsaxlokk and Rabat 28, Zurrieq 25, Melita 22, Kalkara 20, Mellieha 18, Birzebbuga 15, Zabbar 13, Xghajra 9 and Luqa 6.
