Msida St. Joseph claimed three precious points in the battle for promotion as they defeated Siggiewi 3-2 in one of the two matches from the BOV Third Division at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.

Lian Xuereb handed Msida the lead on the 12th minute and Timothy Thomas doubled the score on the 23rd. Leider Manuel Canate Vega converted a penalty on the 75th for Siggiewi but a penalty by Ciro Quaranta five minutes later restored the two-goal lead for Mside. Canate Vega scored a second goal for Siggiewi in added time.

In another match, Dingli Swallows defeated Ta’ Xbiex 2-0 thanks to a Nikola Tasic penalty on the 80th and a goal by Daniel Cilia in stoppage time.

Attard lead the way with 40 points, followed by Gharghur, Kirkop and Siggiewi on 33, Msida 32, Ghaxaq 30, Dingli 27, Marsaskala 24, Mdina 11, Mtarfa 10, Sta. Venera 7 and Ta’ Xbiex 4.
