Mgarr United moved eight points clear in Group A of the BOV National Amateur League as they defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 4-0 at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.
Following a goalless first half, goals by Joseph Paul Zammit on the 57th, Aaron Sammut on the 74th, Lazar Doric on the 78th and Jamie Lee Micallef on the 89th handed Mgarr the three points.
In another match from Group A at the Luxol Stadium, Gharghur held Zurrieq in a 2-2 draw. Nicholas Formosa put Gharghur ahead on the 51st minute but Zurrieq turned the score in their favour with a goal by Erik Pietribiasi on the 63rd and an own goal three mintues later. However Ikechukwu Igwemeke notched the equaliser on the 90th.
In Group B, Mdina Knights held Luqa St. Andrew’s in a 1-1 draw at the Sirens Stadium. Keith Vella put Luqa ahead on the 55th minute and Marinko Solarevic equalised five minutes from time.
In Group C, Xghajra Tornados registered a most comfortable 5-0 win over Dingli Swallows. Glenn Brincat put Xghajra ahead on the 9th minute and doubled the score on the 35th. An own goal three minutes later increased the lead to 3-0 by the end of the first half. Four minutes in the second half, Royter Degiorgio scored a fourth goal for Xghajra with Michael Scicluna adding another seven minutes from time.
