Thirteen Premier League players suspended

Thirteen Premier League matches were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Sean Cipriott, Milan Djuric and Weverton Gomes (Balzan), Oscar Carniello and Federico Falcone (Birkirkara), Thomas Veronese (Gudja), Gabriel Bohrer Mentz, Ricardo Calixto Correa and Nikolai Muscat (Gzira), Gabriel Izquier Artiles (Hibs), Matias Muchardi (Mosta), Shaun Dimech (Valletta) and Vitor Vieira (Zejtun) were all banned for one match.

Balzan could not count on Cipriott, Djuric and Gomes for the clash against Zejtun who will be without Vitor Vieira. Carniello and Falcone are ruled out for Birkirkara for the important game against leaders Hamrun. Gzira will be without Mentz, Correa and Muscat for the clash against Lija while Gabriel Izquier and Matias Muchardi are ruled out of Hibs vs Mosta. Veronese will miss Gudja’s next game against Sliema while Shaun Dimech will skip the clash with Sirens.

Mosta officials Adrian Farrugia and Owen Vella were handed a two-match ban.

In the BOV Challenge League, Peter Xuereb (Marsaxlokk), Iven Zammit (Qormi), Zack Bowman (San Gwann), Aaron Hili (St George’s) were banned for one match while Mqabba official Iro Curmi was suspended for two matches.

On the other hand, in the BOV National Amateur League, Robert Ciantar (Dingli), Alan Abdel Rahman, Kieran Degiorgio and Keith Vella (Luqa), Eman Camilleri and Mark Vassallo (Marsaskala), David Fenech (Mellieha), Miguel Agius (Ta’ Xbiex) and Dylan Cassar (Zabbar) were all banned for one match. Luqa coach Edmond Lufi was suspended for one match while Dingli official Marco Buttigieg was suspended for three matches.
