Despite playing for around seventy five minutes in ten men, Sirens earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Lija Athletic at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
A draw which puts Sirens one point ahead of Floriana, in ninth place, while Lija remain second from bottom.
Sirens were reduced to ten men after just fifteen minutes when Jonathan Pearson received his second yellow card for a foul just outside the area on Harry Wood.
Just before the end of the first half, Lija were awarded a penalty after a foul by Tamsir Jammeh inside the area. Fernando Brandan’s effort from the penalty spot was partially saved by goalkeeper David Cassar but off the rebound, Brandan placed the ball at the back of the net.
Sirens equalised eleven minutes in the second half when off a cross by Samba Tounkara from the right, Wilfried Domoraud slotted the ball past goalkeeper Luke Bonnici.
