Hibernians target win over Sliema to regain top spot

Hibernians will be hoping to return to winning ways on Sunday as they take on wooden-spoonists Sliema Wanderers in one of the three BOV Premier League matches in programme.

In fact, in the first match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Hibs take on Sliema aiming for a win to regain the top spot.

Hibernians are unbeaten in five matches but dropped their first points in their last outing, being held in a 1-1 draw by Santa Lucia. Sliema, on the other hand, are currently anchored at the bottom of the table with three points from five matches thanks to draws with Floriana, Gzira and Sirens. They still chase their first win this season.

Sergio Raphael dos Anjos is suspended for the Paolites.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 17:00, Valletta face Sirens

Another tricky test for Tose Mendes’ side as they currently share seventh place with Hamrun and Balzan on six points with two wins and three defeats. In fact after winning their first two matches, they suffered three consecutive defeats to Floriana, Gzira and Gudja. Sirens, on the other hand, lie in fifth place with two wins, two draws and one defeat. In their last outing, they were held in a draw by Sliema.

Ruled out for Valletta are Ryan Camilleri and Joseph Zerafa who are both serving a suspension.

Despite losing just one game, Santa Lucia are still chasing their first win claiming their points in four draws but managed to held Hibs in a 1-1 draw in their last outing. They share the second place from bottom with Mosta who registered their first win in their last outing, beating Balzan 2-1 after suffering back to back defeats to Hamrun and Hibernians.
