National Amateur League: Second derby win for Rabat Ajax

After defeating neighbours Mdina Knights 3-0 on Monday, Rabat Ajax registered another derby win, beating Dingli Swallows 3-1 in a match from Group B of the National Amateur League at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.

Kurt Agius put Rabat ahead just before the end of the first half and a Joseph Caruana penalty on the 58th doubled the score. Aleksander Kovacic pulled one back on the 68th but Kurt Agius converted another penalty on the 85th.

Luqa St. Andrew’s registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Mdina Knights at the Luxol Stadium. Nathan Frendo put Luqa ahead on the 15th and Kyle Mercieca doubled the score on the 25th. Kieran Degiorgio made it 3-0 nine minutes in the second half and although Matthew Scicluna reduced the gap on the 65th, Larson Mallia scored a fourth goal on the 83rd with an own goal in stoppage time increasing the lead further.

St. George’s and Msida St. Joseph shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Sirens Stadium, goals by Jamie Camilleri on the 70th for Msida and Morientes Muscat for St. George’s on the 82nd.

On the other hand, at the Luxol Stadium, Gharghur held Kirkop United in a 1-1 draw. Isaac Abela put Kirkop ahead on the 11th but twelve minutes from time, Warren Azzopardi levelled matters.
