Valletta held in goalless draw by Sirens

Following a draw with Hibernians and a comfortable win over Pieta’ Hotspurs, Valletta dropped two points in a goalless draw with Sirens at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

A draw which leaves the Citizens four points behind leaders Birkirkara and hands Sirens their second point following the draw with Floriana last week.

Triston Caruana was back for Valletta, replacing Christian Gauci while for Sirens, Gary Camilleri deputised for the suspended Alex Cini. Three players made their debut when they were included as substitutes – Valletta’s Flavio Cheveresan and Llywelyn Cremona and Stephane Sessegnon of Sirens.

Following a goalless first half, Sirens were reduced to ten men after Gary Camilleri was sent off for serious foul play with Pena Beltre but three minutes from time, Valletta also had a player sent off as Brandon Paiber hit Promise Akinpelu with the elbow.
