Sliema Wanderers registered their fourth win in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Zejtun Corinthians 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Terrence Groothusen put the Wanderers ahead eight minutes from the end of the first half and just before half-time, they doubled the score thanks to an own goal. Lydon Micallef sealed the issue with a third goal six minutes in added time.
Tarxien Rainbows and Naxxar Lions shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Neil Pace Cocks put Naxxar ahead on the 56th and Thiago Nonato Peixoto equalised on the 76th.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Mtarfa registered their first win, defeating Swieqi United 2-1. Brandon Micallef handed Mtarfa the lead on the 77th and Gianluca Sultana doubled the score on the 88th. Leonardo De Bortoli pulled one back five minutes in added time.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Zurrieq also registered their first win, defeating Marsaskala 2-1. Jeremy Busuttil put Zurrieq ahead on the 14th and although Rundell Renold Winchester equalised on the 43rd, Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio notched the winner on the 69th.
Sliema lead the way with 12 points, followed by Fgura and Zejtun on 9 points, Naxxar and Swieqi on 7.
