Hamrun Spartans march on

Hamrun Spartans registered their fourth win in as many matches as they scored a goal in each half to beat Sirens 2-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

The Spartans now lead the table with 12 points, two ahead of Gudja and three ahead of Birkirkara, who however, have a game in hand. Sirens, on the other hand, remain with two points from four matches.

The St. Paul’s Bay side had three changes from their last outing as Alex Cini, Adrian Borg and Paulo Vyctor Bento replaced Gary Camilleri, Gabriel Ventura and Jacob Walker. Hamrun, on the other hand, had an unchanged side from the team which defeated Marsaxlokk on Wednesday.

The Spartans took the lead on the 24th minute when off a Matteo Fedele corner from the right, Steve Borg hit low past goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.

Hamrun doubled the score on the 73rd minute when substitute Ailton Jorge dos Santos Soares exchanged the ball with Luke Montebello before entering the area and hitting low past the Sirens goalkeeper.
