Naxxar Lions moved to just two points behind leaders Sliema Wanderers in the BOV Challenge League thanks to a narrow win over Mtarfa at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday.

Edson Cerqueira Farias scored the all-important goal on ten minutes.

Sliema lead the way with 21 points, followed by Naxxar on 19, Zejtun 15, Lija 14, Melita 13, Fgura, Zurrieq and Tarxien 11, Attard 9, Marsa, Swieqi, Mtarfa, San Gwann and St. Andrews 8, Vittoriosa 7, Mqabba 6, Marsaskala 3 and Qrendi 1.
