National Amateur League: Comfortable wins for Zabbar, Mgarr

Zabbar St. Patrick and Mgarr United registered comfortable wins in Group A of the National Amateur League at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

Zabbar St. Patrick moved top thanks to a 8-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex. A brace by David Oliveira Souza on the 22nd and 26th put the Saints two goals ahead with Andre Joe Cutajar and Rowad Benhamed adding another two goals on the 36th and 38th. In the second half, Kenneth Aquilina made it 5-0 on the 53rd and Andre Joe Cutajar scored the sixth on the 66th. Nick Borg extended the lead on the 75th before Andre Joe Cutajar wrapped up the win for Mark Miller’s side five minutes from time.

Mgarr, on the other hand, defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 4-0 thanks to goals by Saturday Nanapere on the 6th, Ryan Dalli on the 71st and a brace by Gianluca Sant on the 69th and 86th.

Zabbar lead the way with 18 points, followed by Senglea on 16, Mgarr 13, Birzebbuga and Kalkara 10, Qormi 9, Sta. Venera 6, Xghajra 5, Mellieha and Pembroke 3 and Ta’ Xbiex 0.
